So very sad
To lose my Mom to pancreatic cancer on May 3, 2010
Harriet Marie Donahue Christovich
Born February 19, 1928 in Cresson, Pennsylvania to Mildred and John Donahue; passed away on May 3, 2010, at her home in Neptune Beach, Florida. Harriet grew up in Washington DC, attended Gage Elementary, Langley Junior High, and McKinley Tech High School and was employed by the American Automobile Association and the District of Columbia government. She married Stan Christovich, also of DC, in 1951, and they later moved to Jacksonville, Florida where Harriet was active in St. Matthew’s Catholic Church Guild and Christ the King Catholic Church Guild and was the organizer and first President of the Home School Association of Christ the King School.
The family moved to Baltimore, Maryland in 1963 where Harriet was an active member of the Mt. St. Joseph High School Mothers’ Club and St. William of York Mothers’ Club. She coached softball and basketball there and was a referee for the city recreation league.
Upon moving to Neptune Beach, Florida in 1975, Harriet became an active participant in many civic and religious organizations. She was a member of the Council on Aging of the Beaches, a volunteer at Avante Nursing Home and a past member of the All Saints Auxiliary and the Theresians of Jacksonville. She was a longtime member and board member of the Catholic Women’s Club of Jacksonville and Church Women United of the Beaches. She was a member and past president of the St. Paul’s Council of Catholic Women and served on the board of the South Jacksonville Deanery, the St. Augustine Council of Catholic Women and the Florida Council of Catholic Women as well as the Knights of Columbus Women’s Auxiliary. She had also been an active member of the PTA for San Pablo Elementary School, Fletcher Junior High, and Fletcher High School.
She is survived by Stan, her husband of 58 years, nine children – Tom (Rose), Steve (Susan), Ken, Jace (Buster) Dobrowolski, Greg, Margery (Ed) Corristan, Dan (Lisa), Ed (Keri), Andy (Brandi), and 31 beautiful grandchildren, two grandsons-in-law, five great-grandchildren, and four step-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Mary Ellen (Johnny) Innocenti and family.
